New Stuff!!!

A post to catch up on some recent cards.  Playing with new stuff is always fun!

This card was made for the Featured Stamper Challenge today on SCS.  I used my new Barn Door Bundle from SU!  I so love this set.  One day, I am going to get some barn doors in my house!  I used the cowboy hat from my fave set in the world - WWW.

This next card was made using my new Tim Holtz Tree Ring Die and EF.  I have been wanting it for some time and it showed up available on Amazon around Valentine's so guess what Hubby got to give me.  This card was made for the Inspiration Challenge on SCS - the inspiration was a special Iris flower.  I had no Iris stamps or dies so I hand cut this one and coated the petals with Gel Medium to give them texture and to be able to shape them better (they kind of feel real too).  I wasn't happy with the center so I covered the whole thing in Snowtex (love that stuff).

This one is my favorite.  It is made with several new images from DRS Designs:  Better Irish Blessings, Silhouette Shamrock FieldPaper Coffee Cup,  plus a few old shamrock images.  I made the whipped cream with some Heavy Gel Medium mixed with white acrylic paint.  Painted it on some acetate and heated it with my heat gun.  Then I sprinkled it with cinnamon.  Smells and looks awesome.

Hope you are all doing well - I am going to catch up soon.  Hugz,

Nancy

Fun with a Coffee Cup!

Happy New Year friends.

DRS Designs has a fun new Paper Coffee Cup image and I have had some fun playing with it this past week!  For my first card, I made some paper bacon and eggs using water color paints, several layers of gel medium, paper and a heat gun.  I used a brush to splatter on some real coffee in the bg and added the fun new paper coffee cup and part of the Hugs, Kisses Valentine Wishes Greeting.

On my second card, I used two of the paper coffee cup images, added the new Coffee and Friends Greeting, and added some little playful critters:  "Shell"don The Turtle and the new Love Bug.

My last card is super easy.  I just made another coffee cup and did the bg with an embossing folder and a ton of Snowtex.  I was trying to express that coffee is warm when the weather is super cold outside:  Warm versus Cold.

Hope you are all staying warm.  It is even freezing in Central Alabama and that is saying something.  I can't complain because it will mean less bugs the rest of the year.

Some Christmas Goodies

Hello blog friends - I am still here.  We had snow in Alabama this week so it really looked like Christmas around here!  Hardly ever snows so it is such a treat for us!

Here are a few recent Christmas cards I have made:

This one was made with an old SU! set - Natural Beauty.  It is one of my favorites.  I challenged a friend to make a Christmas card using it as it is one of her favorites too.  This is my creation:

This one is the Christmas card I mass produced this year.  I used DRS Designs images:  Frog on a Log, Santa Puppy and Triple Holly.  I sponged the bg with various colors, colored the images with Prisma Pencils and flecked on some Snowtex.

Here is a fun little Christmas tag made from an Amazon box and lots of Snowtex and gold micro beads.  Super fun to make.  The rolled sentiment is from DRS Designs - Christmas Especially to you.
Hope you are getting ready for Christmas and enjoying the season.  Hugz!

Thanksgiving Ribbon Tag

I have changed in my crafting.  Gone are the days of throwing out multiple tries on a card - now days, I just change direction.  I changed direction on this creation a BUNCH of times.
It started out as a card with a fun old die, but my die cutting base is messed up and the die is slightly bent so it slipped.  I tried again with a smaller die and it slipped.  Destined to save the image, I went with an oval but didn't have enough paper left to get a full oval so I had to cover it up with something.  I found this fun bow I had made for something else but never used.  The bow was too big and bulky for a card so this became a large tag.  It is currently tied on a bottle of wine, but I can see it tied to lots of fun things.

The image is the DRS Designs Filigree Pumpkin inked up with several colors of DOX (Distress Oxide Ink - thanks to Loll Thompson for teaching me that acronym) and DI (Distress Ink).  Then I stamped the Deco Happy Thanksgiving To You Greeting.  I scrubbed on a little extra ink around the edges to tie it in with my background.  I made the bg by stamping the Filigree pumpkin in black and sponging on lots of DOX and DI. A polka dot stencil added some additional pattern and covered up a few inky mistakes.

We had a hint of Fall in the air this week  - YAY!!!!

Hope you are enjoying Fall wherever you live - it is a wonderful time full of gorgeous colors and relief from the heat.

Pumpkin Surgery and Christmas Bling

I have some fun cards to share today.

On my first card, I did a quick background by inking up some foil with inks in circles, spritzing it all with water, liberally spraying on some Fireworks spray, and then slapping down the paper to soak it all up.  After it dried, I threw some water on it and then mopped it up with a paper towel.  It makes a cool background and if you do lighter ink in the middle circle, you don't have to worry about your lighting on the card.

After that fun adventure dried, I stamped the new The Floor image (this is going to be a well used image - isn't it great?).  I had so much fun doing some image surgery to create my pumpkin grouping!  Most my pumpkins are from the Hot Air Balloon image:  I stamped them with the balloon stamp and then again with the new Filgree Pumpkin image,  I cut the basket portion off at various levels from the balloons to create different sized pumpkins, sponged them with Distress Inks/Oxides, and put them in a little group. Next, I stamped the new Pumpkin Patch image and cut out one little pumpkin, the large leaf, and the sign.  I stamped a bunch more of just the large leaf so I could cover up my surgery.  I sponged all the images as I was too lazy to color. I still needed more stuff to cover the surgery, so I die cut a bit of foliage (Tim Holtz/Sizzix).  So fun and you can see that pretty Fireworks spray shimmer if you look closely at the corners of my background.
I did another quick card based on this week's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers - I was inspired by a Victorian lampshade at Victorian Trading Co.

I used a Cottage Cutz Bethlehem die cut and sponged Distress Inks around it to get a little cityscape and a cool sky.  Next, I splashed on some water and let it all dry.  After it all dried, I sponged on a bit of orange using  a mask to make a little starburst effect. Then  I stamped the Silent Night with Jesus Star image and added a bit of Stickles to get an even better starburst effect.  This was a super quick and easy card to make even if it doesn't sound like it.
Super fun to make cards.  I know I say that all the time, but it really is true!

Ostriches in the Bible

Every once in a while, I see something on Pinterest that I just have to try and do myself - this ostrich is one of those times. I drew it out with a regular ink pen and some Prisma pencils.  Isaiah 43: 18-21 - has so many messages.  I focused on our need to praise God for His mightiness and all He has done for us and plans to do for us.  Even ostriches, who normally put their head in the sand and are clueless, take note of God in these verses.

Did you know ostriches are mentioned more than once in the bible?  They are a good way to illustrate one of  our big weakness - putting our own heads in the sand.

Many hugz and wishes for a great week - don't be an ostrich (I will try too - lol).

Bible Journaling the Comfort of Psalms

Back after another long absence.  So glad you dropped by.  I am still crafting, working, junking, and hanging out with family - especially those three cute Grandsons of mine.

I have been doing a lot of Bible Journaling.  It seems to help me focus on what is important in life, and I always feel so refreshed and relaxed after doing a page.

Here are a few of my favorite pages:

Don't you love Squirt?  After watching Finding Dory a million times in last 6 months, I have come to really like the scene he is in.  He seemed to fit this lovely section of Psalm 124:1-5.

If it has not been for the Lord who was on our side,
       Let Israel now say -
"If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
Then they would have swallowed us alive.
When their wrath was kindled against us:
Then the water would have overwhelmed us,
       The stream would have gone over our soul;
       Then the swollen waters
Would have gone over our soul."

A wonderful tribute to the Lord and how He saves us in so many ways.  Without Him, our souls would be lost. Kind of reminds me of when the turtles help Dory and friends get to California.

I drew squirt with a black ink pen using some still scenes from the movie as guides.  I colored him up with colored pencils.

On these "Angel" wings, I drew out a bunch of feathers, cut them out, and wrote on some scripture from Psalm 97.  This chapter is about praising the Lord and has wonderful lines such as in verse 6:
"the Heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory."  I also love verses 10-12:  "You who love the lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.  Light is sown for the righteous and gladness for the upright in heart.  Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name."

Such lovely verses, they provide much comfort to me.

Hope life is treating you well.  Many hugz
